Fabrication, Mechanical Testing and Structural Simulation of Regenerated Cellulose Fabric Elium® Thermoplastic Composite System

Regenerated cellulose fibres are an important part of the forest industry, and they can be used in form fabrics as reinforcement materials. Similar to natural (NFs), such flax, hemp jute, that widely automotive these possess good potential for semi-structural applications. In this work, mechanical properties regenerated fabric-reinforced poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) (Elium®) composite were investigated compared with those its fibre counterparts. The developed demonstrated higher tensile strength ductility, well comparable flexural NF-reinforced epoxy Elium® systems, whereas Young’s modulus was lower. glass transition temperature a value competitive (107.7 °C) other NF composites. Then, behavior bio-composite under bending loading simulated, materials model simulate car door panel scenario. Modelling contribute predicting structural bio-based thermoplastic secondary applications, which is aim work. Finite element simulations performed assess deflection force transfer mechanism interior.
